Press the buzzer # – “Fill me up with full Octane 95, please.”
What is Octane 95?
- Octane (from the name Isooctane) is a measurement unit that determines how resistant gasoline is to self-ignition.
What does that mean?
If I refuel with Octane 95, the mixture contains 95% Isooctane and 5% Heptane.
Back in the 1930s, it was understood that a combination of high octane and low heptane is the best and most efficient mix for the fuel we use today. This ensures the fuel performs optimally while preventing premature self-ignition.
